A Love That Never DIE'S!

Something I have thought about for a long time even before I got married is... How do you create a love that never die's, that is eternal, and every day grows stronger.. I found out when I married Robert Burnham Talbert! He is the most kind, forgiving, strong willed, enthusiastic, sentimental man I have ever met! He is a good balance of both Smart and Sexy! (I can say that because I am his wife) Seriously I have no idea how I got so lucky! He lets me be me, which ever mood that I'm in! He is the most patient person I have ever met and that is hard with a girl like me, I'm sure I have a few ex's that would confirm that.. However I have learned so much with him, by him simply sitting down with me to help me with any problem I have whether it's homework, my computer, or even my hair! He is there to the rescue like Super Man at the speed of light! I m not writing this to brag or to say my husband is the #1 man in the world. I am writing this because if you find your true love you don't let it go, and you will know when he/she is the one! I can tell you that by having a relationship with our Heavenly Father he will guide you, he will show you that path to a close to perfect life if you let him! I heard this story once in church from a FHE brother I had my third semester of college. He was from Nigeria and he said in his tribe they would always talk about this beautiful bush that would grow in this part of the country and it got so big that the Gardener had to cut it down a little bit.. However after the Gardener had cut it to a more decent size he noticed the bush crying! He asked the bush why do you cry? The bush said because I as beautiful and blossomed and you have cut me down. The Gardener stated that you will be beautiful again but I must cut you down to keep from over growing and taking over the garden. (There is also a similar store from a talk given). I tell this story because when I have trials in life I usually reflect back on that. It reminds me that Heavenly Father is my Gardener and is trying to make me the person he knows I can become. However that may require a little repenting from me. In order to keep that love and devotion for each other you must always have that person in your heart and look for their needs! Do things for them, be willing to listen to them, and always say I love you each and everyday! Pray together and you will stay together! Love Shanel

Having a lot of Fun these Past Months

Rob and I have had a lot going on these past months since we have been married! We have enjoyed the time we have spent living with his parents. Rob and I get the basement to ourselves which is like an apartment. His parents both work so we don't bug each other very much. Rob and I both have jobs so we keep pretty busy and are saving money for school, which we will both be back to BYU-I this Fall. We have an apartment a little bit away from campus and its unfurnished.. So we are working on Furnishing our first apartment together =). We have a awesome couch so far, and the rest will probably be bought at IKEA. We are very blessed to have the jobs we do and Rob's parents who let us stay here for free at their house. Oh we also got a car from his parents which was a big life saver, I am amazed at how well Rob takes care of our car and can figure out how to fix most things. Rob and I also have Kings Island passes, which is this huge roller coaster park and water park. I feel bad because I am a big baby when it comes to roller coasters, but I do love the water park! It has great rides and two wave pools which helps with all the people that are there. We had Dan and Kristen's wedding July 7, We thought it was great that they got married exactly 3 months after us! We enjoyed going out to Utah and spending time with the family. I seriously love all of Robbie's family we have so much fun together. Dan and Kristen had a beautiful wedding and reception. It went really smoothly and they even had a bag piper!!! I was a little worried but it was unique and pretty amazing to see this man play the bag pipe... Well after that we had three weeks till the Open house in Ohio Deborah did her duty to making sure everything was perfect! I think after 2 weddings she was pro at it, because when we had the open house everything was set up beautifully. It was also really easy to set up. However a wicked storm came threw and threw out the power right before the reception started. Luckily the storm made the air cool off and Rob and I ran home to get some candles and lights.. It was very interesting but at least 30min before it was supposed to end the power came back on haha... It was surly an adventure. Well the next day everyone got up and ready to go down town Cincinnati for the Flying Pig tour. They have this festival type thing where businesses and schools make these sculptured pigs, maybe flying pigs and design them in their own way. It was truly amazing to see all these different kinds of pigs. Also to see all the history in Down town Cincinnati. After that we went up one of the tallest buildings to see all of down town.. It was a little scary but we seemed to have fun with it. Carter pushed Jewels around and kept knocking her into the walls but she just laughed haha. Carter has sure made Jewels a tough little girl.. We then went to the Art Museum.. Which was pretty cool.. However I wore the wrong shoes so my feet were hurting really bad, and I was pretty tired by then... But we let everyone else enjoy it and we left with Diane and Aaron to this park/picnic area underneath the Big Mac Bridge! This was the coolest place, its right next to the Purple People Bridge. We at lunch and Rob and I played Tag with each other, which he snuck up behind me and scared me like usual... Next we walked down the Purple People Bridge which went over the big river in Down Town Cincinnati.. It wall really pretty and cool to see all the different thing in Cincinnati! I have really learned to love Ohio! Sunday we had Jeff's famous Crepes, which we so delicious... We then all got ready for church and then Dan and Kristen were off and so were Diane and Aaron.. The next week Rob and I went and played Disc Golf with a bunch of his friends from high school.. Ben, Ryan, JT, and Robbie's little brother Bryan.. It was a lot of fun and I am getting a lot better at the game which is great =). So this past weekend Rob wanted to go to the Air Force Museum up in Dayton, It was pretty amazing all the plays and other things they had there.. We were there about 2 to 3 hours just looking at how fast things have advanced in just 60 years.. On our way back home we stopped at the Cincinnati Outlet and I thought I saw President Kunz from Magnolia, Texas. As soon as he saw me he yelled "Shanel!!" What are you doing here"? It was really great to see him and his family! After we left there we stopped at IKEA! We were so amazed at how many people were at this store! It was crazy and the store is huge!!! It also gave us a chance to figure out what we wanted! Which was great! Well this Tuesday Brian left for his mission, it was truly amazing to see someone study and try to be as prepared as he can. I know he will do amazing things in the field in Austria!!! Well I think I have everything caught up =)

Catch Up!

Well a lot has changed, Rob and I are married now for the last 2 month of marriage, now going on our third, and life has been amazing. I couldn't asked for a better person to marry. Rob is so sweet, caring, loving, and patient with me. He teaches me so much and helps me to better myself each and everyday. We are in Ohio now and life is great we live in the basement of his parents house while Rob finishes his internship. I am working as a nanny to bring in some extra money and to keep myself busy. Right now Rob and I are house sitting and nannying. I have loved this experience. I was really scared at first and thought I would be frustrated and mean. However it is quiet the opposite, The children's mom have done such an outstanding job with her kids. They are very self offeciant and all I have to do is remind them here and there. They help with the house and are great helpers. And Rob is such a great help also.. The other day I was taking the two boys to camp and I just thought about the day that Rob and I are out of school and have our family and me taking them to camps, practice, school and so on. It really shows me how much I will love being a mother and wife. I am excited for the future and what it holds. Even though I know Rob and I are far from this point in our life, however I know that it will be a joy as we go on. I am excited to go to Utah in July for Dan (Rob's brother) and Kristen's wedding. Then Rob and I only have 2 months till we drive back to Rexburg! Our first road trip together! It will be a lot of fun!

Sorry It's Been a While!!

So I bet you all are wondering what in the world is going on here in Texas, and how Rob is doing in Ohio! Well lets just say its been craziness! I work 3 jobs, Rob works 5 days a week as a Mechanical Engineer, and Sundays are my only down time. However I guess one thing I can talk about it how people say that Satan tries his hardest to prevent Temple weddings, that is so true! However he hasn't gotten to me because I am putting my armor of God on! It's amazing the peace you can receive when your fiance is very understanding and also when Heavenly Father is on your side! I love the knowledge I am gaining during this time! Well what we have coming up is: -My Bridal shower March 10th -Rob comes March 16th -Another Bridal shower March 24th -And then my wedding April 7th! Goodness we are down to the last weeks! Its great! These past 2 months have been annoying, haha... but it's been great to be able to plan everything!

So close, but so far...

Since Robbie and I have been engaged we spent 4 days together being engaged! and have been apart since then.. I have had my ups and downs and of course he has.. Planning a wedding never goes smoothly.. However, this past week has been the hardest.. I also watched the movie trailer for The Vow, and wow did that set me off... I feel that people say it is easier to be separated when in engaged because it helps with less temptation.. However I feel it is harder, for one I feel like I have to plan this wedding on my own.. I know the guy doesn't do much anyways, but I really wish he could go with me to pick things out, to taste test with me and all those things, even though in reality he doesn't care. However I care, I also don't have him around to just hang out with or to help me clean out the attic and all that stuff that some people get to experience together. Instead we have 45 min to an hour on Oovoo, then its time for him to go to bed. Its truly very hard not seeing the person I want to spend the rest of my life with! Then I watch the preview for The Vow and think I can't imagine not remembering him! Or loving him as much as I do! This is a growing time for the both of us, and Heavenly Father definitely loves to teach Robbie and I about patience. However on the bright side I get to see him in 3 weeks!!! I will cherish that time with him, and probably not want to leave! Goodness this may feel like forever however I feel that eternity with Robbie sounds better!

Ring to hand

So after I got engaged I feel that I have an attachment to my engagement ring! I love it so much and it makes me feel almost apart of Robbie while he is up in Ohio far far away from me!! However, I had one of those moments where I was trying to get ready for a Relief Society enrichment night and as I am sitting in the passenger seat of Cathy Duiguid's car. I start playing with my left hand finger to find that I did not put my ring back on after a shower!!! Ah let me tell you that was the worst feeling in the world!!! I felt lost almost.. That might seem a little silly but it is not something I want to repeat!!! =) Just thought you would get a little humor out of this!

I guess you could say I am in love!

So as Robbie and I finished up Skyping I have realized a few things about Robbie Talbert.. First is he is the most hard working person I know, if I need anything or need something done he is there. He realizing things I do not like to do and he does them. He is also so considerate of others, he comforts me all the time even when I am stressed out over silly things. He knows when I don't like something (not that its hard to notice). However the best thing I have realized is how perfect he is for me. Robbie can make me laugh and giggle all day long, he can also drive me so crazy. I love to gaze at him and watch his expressions, and when I see him I can't help but smile. He strives to the man I have always wanted; even though he is far above that. He understands the role of a man but a humble and sweet man. I can cuddle up next to him and just soak in his warmth. I am so relaxed and at peace when he is next to me. I miss just randomly talking to him or holding his hand or even giving him a kiss on the cheek. I really missed him being next to me as I did the dishes, if you don't know Robbie and I very well, we do a lot together we always have. We did homework together, we cooked together and ate dinner together almost every night. I miss those moments the most, dishes were always fun because I would come up behind him and give him a big hug and then make him scoot over so I could help him. I also miss running to him and he would pick me up and give me a huge hug! I guess you could say I love Rob Talbert with all my heart and I really do not like being so far from him. However on April 7th we will never have to be apart because we will be together forever. I think that is worth the wait!
